Berks & Bucks FA County Senior Trophy Final
Newport Pagnell Town v Flackwell Heath
Tuesday 5th April Kick Off 19:45
Venue: Abingdon United FC
Willen Road is buzzing at the moment following the Swan's Semi-Final victory over Holmer Green. There is something special about cup matches played under the floodlights and this keenly contested game between two good sides was no exception. It was the Swan's that came out on top in a pulsating encounter, courtesy of a well taken Dom Lawless strike. Newport Pagnell Town go on to play Flackwell Heath in the final of this season's Berks & Bucks FA County Senior Trophy.
First played in 1992/93 season, with Eton Wick becoming the inaugural champions, the Trophy has established itself as a well respected competition in the football calendar. Newport had a run of four finals in consecutive seasons, losing twice and winning twice. Their last appearance in the final saw them play this season's opponents Flackwell Heath. On that occasion the Swans were victorious winning the Trophy on penalties.
This year's final sees the Heathens appearing in their third final, however, in the 2012/13 season Flackwell Heath won their semi-final but were disqualified for playing an ineligible player. The trophy was not awarded that year as the other finalists, Aylesbury United, were also disqualified.
By reaching the final Newport become the first side to play in five finals and if they win they will become the first side to win the Trophy three times.
Flackwell Heath are currently in third place in the Hellenic League Premier Division.
