Newport Pagnell Town manager Darren Lynch on their 1-1 draw at Peterborough Northern Star:
"Today we travelled to PNS for our last game of the season where we knew that promotion was out of reach, so we were either going to turn up and go out with a bang or just go through the motions and unfortunately it was the latter, but credit to Star as they put in a shift and had some decent young lads who played well.
I think we had a decent 10 minute spell where we took the lead through a great goal by Greg Ling but then we just switched off and they scored a bit of a lucky goal, but in all fairness probably deserved.
The game reflected our whole season really as we missed chance after chance and switched off, and doesn’t matter who you play in this league you get punished.
I suppose people would think I’d be happy with a top 3 finish but in all honesty I’m disappointed that we didn’t get promoted, but in football you don’t get what you deserve sometimes.
I’ll look back on the season with a lot satisfaction but equally with frustration.
I suppose the highlight game of the season was the 3-1 win away at Wisbech where we were outstanding that day with key players missing as well, worst period of the season was over Xmas as I was harshly banned from all grounds and couldn’t do much as the team had a real blip over a 3-4 game period!
It was a good competitive league this year and I think it was mainly because there was an extra promotion place, and I think it should stay that way for seasons to come.
The league table never lies they say so deservedly the 2 best teams were promoted, but I think sSeb at holbeach did a great job as well as Jake at Cogenhoe!
I’ll take a week or two to rest, then sit down with the club and see where we go from here.
I want to thank Dan for all his hard work getting these reports from all us managers and hope he carries on the good work!
Might see you next season..."
