Newport Pagnell Town Reserves manager Darren Clarke on their 4-0 win against Raunds Town Reserves:

"Newport Parnell Town reserves Vs Raunds Town Reserves,

We welcomed Raunds to Willen Road, off the back of a six match winless run, but with signs of improvement, just looking for a solid performance to earn a result we deserve, I had a full squad available but noted that Raunds were looking thin in-terms of squad numbers, we worked on playing through the lines and creating chances in training, and I’m pleased to say we put it into practice today, we opened the scoring through 16 year old Cameron Hardie with a sublime chipped shot over the keeper, Steve Blood scored his first goal for Newport, young Ben Wilson worked so hard today and was rewarded with a goal to put us 3-0 up, I think it’s fair to say we had the lions share of possession and chances but a combination of missed chances and Raunds resilience the score remained 3-0 at halftime.

I had the luxury of being able to make 5 changes and a change of shape, deliberately to involve the whole squad and freshen up our game play, Jay Saunders who had worked hard all game got the goal he deserved and I hoped that would mean we would kickoff from there, we did miss many chances today, and Raunds were dogged in their defence and the substitute keeper was pulling off some great saves, we kept the score at 4-0, and was really nice to keep a clean sheet, I felt for the Raunds lads, they kept battling away and to a man played for each other, I just hope they keep things going and stick together, well done to my lads today, it’s only a game, we have been extremely unlucky of late, but also not deserved wins with our performances in every game, hopefully we have taken a positive step forward, as we continue to grow and learn

Darren"
