Following the recent reports of historical child abuse reports in football, we would like to reassure our players, parents, coaches, supporters and volunteers, that Safeguarding Children is something we take very seriously at the club and we aim to protect all our youth players.
As a FA Charter Standard Development Club, every NPTFC Manager or Coach must has a valid DBS check, current Safeguarding Children and Emergency Aid Certificates and at least one person per team must have a Level 1 coaching qualification, though we do aspire for every coach to be Level 1 trained. We have also extended the DBS checks to Team Admins and Committee members. We believe strongly that this not only protects our young players but also enables our coaching staff and volunteers to create a safe environment for the children we look after.
We held a FA Safeguarding Children course at the club on 21st November 2016, which was attended by both new and existing coaches. Our Compliance Officer, Michelle Davey, regularly checks to see which coaches need to update their training, informs the coaches and books the relevant courses.
Our Club Welfare Officer is Mark Russell and Angela Skinner has just recently joined Mark as our second Club Welfare Officer.
