Swans Daren Dykes review of the last 2 games :
"Boxing day we hosted Kempston. Before the match a minute’s silence was immaculately observed & a reef given from us to Kempston player and former Swan & friend of mine Michael Lyon, whose Mum Christine sadly passed away a few days before. Lyonsy bravely played & had a great game at right back.
The game itself wasn't a great one in fairness. A draw was a fair result with neither side creating many chances. We took the lead after 7 minutes through Dom Lawless & they equalised just before half time. The second half was littered with fouls from both sides & neither us or them took hold of the game. On reflection a point against a top 5 side with a big budget like Gary has, when not playing to our full potential isn't too bad.
We then played away at Cogenhoe. First time in all the years I've been going there it wasn't windy!
As recent results suggested we knew this was going to be a tough game & drummed that into the lads beforehand. 3 points here was paramount considering the missed opportunity against Kempston on Saturday. First half, Neither side played well or created an awful lot. We defended superbly though & apart from Ozzy making a superb save to make sure we went into the break 1-0 up from Fazels smart finish, we never looked like conceding.
Second half could of been completely different to how the game ended after an awful decision to send off Darryl Wilson after a strong, fair 50-50 tackle from both players. A yellow for each player was would of even been a step too far! Anyway, we reshuffled the pack to defend our lead and hit them on the counter.
The ref gave the Cogenhoe left back a second yellow after around 65 minutes & for some reason we took our foot off the gas, this led to a mistake from us allowing them to equalise on 70 minutes. Luckily the lads upped their game & Lingy put us 2-1 up 2 minutes later. We scored again on 76 minutes through Edgy & Lingy got his second & our fourth & final goal. The last 20 minutes we completely dominated & with better finishing we could of had 5 or 6. But we obviously have to credit the lads for showing great character to win the game after that ridiculous red card decision.
Saturday we are at home to Harrowby. Come on you Swans!"
