The Swans vs Peterborough Sports - Sat 29th April

5 months ago By Wayne Harmes

Its the last game of the season this Saturday!

First I want to say a big congratulations to UCL Champions Peterborough Sports and of course on their promotion to step 4. Their record speaks for itself, winning 35 games from 41 played so far! Sports have had some big wins this season including a UCL record away win against Kirby Muxloe where Sports ran out 12-2 winners! Recently, Sports convincingly won the local Easter Monday game 5-1 against Peterborough North Star, drew 3-3 away on the 3G pitch against Yaxley and prior to that game beat high flying Desborough 3-1 at the Waterworks ground. Last weekend today's visitors also beat 4th place Eynesbury Rovers 4-0 at Lincoln Road.

The Swans have met Sports twice this season: the first time was back in September at Sports where the home side ran out 3-1 winners! Dom Lawless with the Swan's only goal of the game. Then of course it will be a long time before the Swan's fans forget the second meeting between both sides this season where the Swans ran out 3-2 winners in the FA Vase 4th round in front of a crowd of 429 fans!
The Swans have somehow become draw specialists in the league this season drawing more games than any other team this season! So far they have drawn 12 games and are the only team to be in double figures with draws! Recent results add to that tally with two 1-1 draws at home over Easter against Cogenhoe Utd and Eynesbury Rovers. Then last weekend the Swans came away from Kirby Muxloe feeling disappointed after creating some excellent chances to win the game in the first half then going on to lose the game 1-0.

Did you know?
This is the second time in 2 years Sports have been champions after winning the UCL Division 1 last season, winning 33 games and losing just the 3 games (no draws). They have gone 1 better this season as they have only lost 2 games in the league!
Sports top the first 2 places in the goal scoring charts this season with Avelino Vieira scoring 52 goals and fairly close behind him is his partner in crime Mark Jones with 46 goals.

The Swans have already organised the first pre-season game this summer when they play League 1 side MK Dons on Friday 7th July, Kick off is 7:30pm. So please come down and support the Swans in this David vs Goliath contest!

Today we see the last game of the season so that just leaves me to say please have a great summer and good luck to all at Peterborough Sports Football Club for the future on your new adventure.
