Seven Try Sensation from the All Whites Ladies.

Newton Abbot Ladies began their first season in the league in emphatic style, scoring 7 tries in a debut battle with Plymstock Albion Oaks.

The All Whites were camped in the Plymstock half for most of the first half with a relatively inexperienced pack out muscling the opposition and turning over several scrums. Debutant Vicky Payne was instrumental in the row, partnering Sophie Gunning in what was to be a powerful combination.

Plymstock came back rapidly after the first try went in under the posts in an easy touch down for fly half, Sian Brooks, but this was held up by fullback Rachael Watson. Watson went on to score a hatrick of tries, narrowly missing the “Back of the Match” title to debutant Laura Harris who would normally suit a back row shirt but accepted her position on the wing with enthusiasm and scored a well fought, debut try in the top corner.

The whole team defended with valour, putting pressure on the experienced back line of Plymstock. The back row providing countless tackles and pressure on the opposite fly half. All whites number 6 Sam Tiffany James secured the “Forward of the Match” pint for a tireless effort, making nearly every breakdown in the match and stealing balls, despite trialing for the police squad the day before.

Other tries came from Prop Elena Wallis, scoring in the corner and a second for the Captain with Ceri Tiffany James slotting 2 conversions. Score was 17-0 at half time and finished 39-5 on a last minute 5m penalty tap from the Plymstock Captain. A fantastic game to play and watch.
