The run in begins.

Saturday 11th March.
Kick Off 1430 hrs.

Fresh off the back of last week’s win at Kingston Park, the Newtonians will again host a travelling team at their second home in Shildon.

Bouyed by what was a fantastic day, the Newtonians will look to continue their winning ways, and will be wary not to slip up in the run in to the end of the season.

Conditions are due to be more pleasant than the reverse fixture, although anything less than horizontal rain and gale would be considered an improvement. The backs will be hoping that better weather will see them getting more clean ball, and given the opportunity to cause havoc to the opposition defence.

The Newtonians are set to field a quite frankly frightening pack, full of power, tenacity and experience will no doubt looked to dominate around the breakdown.

Soakell keeps his place at nine, his recent performances have been nothing short of brilliant, no doubt his name will be in the running for player of the year if he manages to continue his form. Pettit is unavailable and in his place comes in Jack, no doubt he will be looking to link with Crossen and Evans all afternoon.

Evans again is another player who even in a side full of players in form seems to stand out every week, both for his attacking and defensive abilities - he can’t be far away from his first 15 debut.

The backline is made up of Parkin, pace merchant Silvester and probably the man with the most points to his name over 60 years of age in the entire country, everyone loves Tommy.

A quick note to Parkin, who despite the very occasional blip has been such a strong part of this seasons success, it will be his last game as he begins training to run a marathon, in aid of the RFU injured players foundation. We look forward to seeing you next year.
