Newton Aycliffe Rugby Club unveil new look coaching team

Fresh set up aims to continue the club's success

Newton Aycliffe Rugby Club have unveiled their new look coaching team to take them in to the 2017/18 season.

After a successful squad campaign last season, the club management wanted to keep as much continuity as possible both on and off the pitch. They have appointed last season’s interim head coach, Dale Kelly, as Head Coach. Dale has now selected his team of four coaches to work with him, including Chris Evans, Chris Richards, Liam Kelly and Ashley Bolsover.

Each coach will be bringing something different to the table and each will be tasked with looking after a specific aspect of the team’s performance:

Dale Kelly – Head Coach

Previous Clubs – Newton Aycliffe, Mowden Park, Barnard Castle, Durham Constabulary.

Coaching – Newton Aycliffe 1989, Darlington Minis, Colts + Juniors, Carmel College, Newton Aycliffe 2014 – present.

Chris Richards – Backs and Attacking Coach

Previous Clubs – Camborne, Redruth, Mounts Bay.

Representative Honours – Cornwall all levels.

Coaching – Newton Aycliffe

Liam Kelly – Forwards and Defence Coach

Previous Clubs – Darlington, Alliance, Fort Worth.

Representative Honours – Durham County U13 – U20, Durham County U17 captain.

Coaching - RFU level 1 coach, qualified teacher.

Ashley Bolsover – Fitness, strength, conditioning and Forwards Coach

Previous Clubs – Vale of Lune, Whitehaven, Barrow Island RL, University of Cumbria RL + union.

Representative Honours – Scotland Students RL 2010 four nations.

Coaching – B.A Hons coaching and sports performance. RFU level 1. Personal trainer level 3. University of Cumbria head coach 2010 (league winners).

Chris Evans – Refereeing Coordinator and Advisor

Previous Clubs – Blackheath, Aberdeen Wanderers.

Coaching / Refereeing – RFU level 2 coach Mowden Park. Level 9 referee.

The coaching team will be holding their first training session on Saturday June 10th at the start of pre-season training.

Training will start at 1300 and there will be a players and family BBQ at 1500 at Moore Lane afterwards. Everyone is welcome to come along to join in with the training or just to the BBQ event after.
