Weekend roundup 7/1/17

Dragons do the double over Nomads.

West Dragons 2 - 1 Neyland

The First game of the new year saw a much improved display from the Nomads. Bossy had several players drop out in the lead up to the game due to Illness, Injury or work commitments however this did not deter the nomads. 2nd teamers Joe Durrant and Lee Harteveld stepped up into defensive duties with both of them impressing. Neyland took the lead midway through the 1st period, Justin Harding burying his first time effort impressively from 18 yards. The lead lasted only 10 minutes when Dragons Striker Scott Crawford levelled from inside the area. The Nomads kept a good shape in the 2nd period, frustrating the Dragons. The winner came from lively sub Morgan Thomas on 75 minutes, the game fizzled out with no real opportunities and although there were no points to show for it, the Nomads showed the right spirit and attitude that was lacking at the end of last year.

Neyland II 0 - 6 West Dragons II

In the battle of the 2nds it was league leaders West Dragons who came out on top. Again the Nomads suffered from unavailability and went into the game understrength but that doesn't take away anything from a spirited performance.
Manager Jason Oatley will move onto next weekend's 4th division quarter final with optimism against a Tish Side sitting in mid table.
