Week 12

Hi All,
Firstly, it was great to see Fred back watching cricket at his beloved Normandy.
As ever we start with a quick round up of the weekend’s action.
The 1st XI won a dramatic last over victory against Farnham, Normandy’s 265 for 5 dec built around an excellent hundred from Nathan Sowter, who capped off his day with a wicket in the last over to bowl out the visitors for 179.
The 2nd XI were much less fortunate going down by 8 wickets at Wimbledon with only the top 3 of Simon Carter, Olly Tapp and George Mackenzie showing any great resistance as we were bundled out for just 121. Wimbledon cruised to victory by 8 wickets with Sam Jelley the only successful bowler. The 2’s currently languish in 8th place but have a 26 point cushion over the relegation zone.
The 3rd XI returned to winning ways and remain second in their league after beating Woking & Horsell by 59 runs. On a sporting pitch Normandy’s 161 all out proving sufficient as Paul King, carl Bowen, Sean Cox and Stuart Walter all shared wickets.
The 4th XI received an automatic win after Staines & Laleham pulled out on Friday morning. Phil Hodgson’s side are now flying high at the top of the table by 3 points.
On Sunday Dan Miles scored his maiden century as the Development side beat Leatherhead in the Surrey trust League.
Roll of honour:
Nathan Sowter 114 1st XI v Farnham
Olly Batchelor 69 1st XI v Farnham
Chris Jones 4-42 1st XI v Farnham
Nathan Sowter 4-28 1st XI v Farnham
Dan Miles 130* U/18 v Leatherhead
Fantasy League
Congratulations to Stuart Walter who (according to the website) wins the manager of the month award for July. The transfer window I believe opens later this week, so still time to make a few tweaks for the final run in.
Availability
Once again can I ask anyone who did not make their availability clear to one of the captains on Saturday to let me know your availability. Particularly those in the 4’s (and those I the 5’s the previous week) as you guys did not have a game this week please let me know if you can play on Saturday so we can make arrangements for a 5th XI if necessary.
Finally
Stuart Walter has stepped in to run the re-organised Academy match against Old Whits. The match is on Sunday 10 August at Old Whitgiftians and anyone wishing to play should let Stuart know as soon as possible please. His e-mail address is:stuartwalter@hotmail.co.uk
Thanks to Stuart for stepping in to help out.
That’s all for now
Peter
