Towcester started their warm-up by bitterly complaining about the size of the allotted pitch and about the way it had been marked out???Ironically, Towcester's own home game had to be cancelled due to their pitches being waterlogged !

The three league gap between the two teams soon became apparent when within 2min Towcester won the first line-out of the game and proceeded with a strong well controlled drive resulting in the first try of the day, the conversion making it 0-7.

The Mens Own squad missing several first team players through injury and being cup-tied gave their all but were no match for a young, strong, well drilled Towcester team that play in Midlands 1 East.

Despite committed efforts from all and in particular John Wootton, Tom Frost, Rob Bloye, Gaareth Hughes and Rob Huckle who came on as replacement Mens Own had no answer to Towcester who controlled the game throughout.

8 tries with 7 conversions made the score at half time 0-54.

Towcester continued scoring in the second half with a further 5 tries with 3 converted for a final score of 0-85.
