A below strength second string fielded 15 players against a very strong BB side. After a couple of strong Mens Own scrums, BB went uncontested. With a series of good moves from the Mens Own back line the BB defence was tested. A score for Brompton and a penalty and conversion for Burton meant that the Own were out in front and looking strong. A few injury issues and a lack of key people in the right positions meant that the BB settled in to a nice rhythm and were in front at the break. Despite a series of injuries, the numbers that BB bought with them helped them to stretch this lead after the break and this showed through them scoring a quick couple of tries. The seconds then settled back into the rhythm of the game and prevented further scores. The pressure that Own put on the BB paid dividends with the oldest member of the team scoring a suspect try in the corner. Cries of ‘His feet were in touch!!’ rang around the ground but the ref saw sense and awarded the try.

The final score did not reflect the work that the boys put in. Man of the Match was awarded to Gerrard Herring for his dubious try and Gay of the day was given to Neil Owen for bottling playing again due to a dubious injury that has lasted too long.

A special mention needs to go to Stu Greenhill who did play the full game despite the fact that Bob thought otherwise!
