However our own 2nds had a load of call-offs in the 24 hours before the game & a brave 10 souls travelled west in order not to let down Inverleith.

They had 13 players, so an 11-a-side contest took place until Robbie Mercer arrived straight from work. Robbie took the field, resplendent in brand new white boots, which meant we played 11 (our 10 + one of theirs) vs the remaining 12.

In what ended up effectively being quite an intense, full-contact training session, we scored 52 points to Inverleiths 10 over a 40 minute period. Worthwhile? To ensure 23 guys played some rugby - definitely.

Our squad, a sublte blend of the close quarter skills of Kai, Gaz Hughes & Robbie and the running ability of Messrs Hammond, West, Nikora, Russell, Adams and Lewis proved far too strong.
Man of the Match? Mike Lewis.
Why? He'll tell you himself.
