Weather doesnt stop the juniors
Saturday saw the start of the first ever Ravens junior weekend festival. The weather was against us with heavy rain and hale, but it didnt stop everyone from camping over and enjoying a night of run and dancing.
Sunday saw the second half of the Ravens weekend shimmering in sunshine with clubs coming from Telford and Nottingham to play small tournaments for under 9s, 13s and 15s. It was a brilliant day with lots of great play and a good opportunity for new players to the game to get a taste of a competitive but fun environment. The weekend was packed with not only game time but CPR and Defibrillator training for all the juniors taking part in the day which was given by Rob & Maggie from The Charlotte and Craig Saving Hearts Foundation which is the Ravens chosen charity as well as rides, stalls, food and drink for all the family.
Ravens director of Rugby Jason Spafford said the weekend festival was a huge success even with the weather against us on the first day, but all the clubs said it was a great weekend and a brilliant idea to show the kids CPR & Defibrillator awareness as well as a huge amount of game time for all the ages involved.
The entire club worked hard to get the event going and look forward to hosting their next one on july 1-2nd with activities to also include training from Super League Club St.Helens RLFC.
