N.E.W Ravens Rugby League 12 v Leamimgton Royals RLFC 70

The N.E.W Ravens were beaten by a well drilled Leamington side where the score flattered the visitors .

The Ravens took to the paddock with 5 changes from last weeks side due to work commitments and last weeks man of the match Ed Lang transferring to national league side Coventry Bears and goes with the Ravens best wishes as he steps up to higher level.
Leamington showed the Ravens a lesson in rugby in the first 20 minutes as they scored 4 tries unanswered to take a 24 to nil lead. A shell-shocked Ravens then started to come back into their own as the defence started to get to grips with the Royals and started to play some good rugby themselves which was rewarded on 35 minutes when after some enterprising play the Ravens pack worked their way up to slope with a superb offload out of a tackle by prop Matt Jupp and and on the last tackle of the set acting half back Jason Spafford burrowed his way under the Leamington defence from close out to score the Ravens first points of the game and this was converted by sean sudworth. The Royals hit back near enough straight away with another try which was unconverted to give the Royals a 28 pts to 6pts lead at halftime.

The 2nd half got underway as much the same as the first as the Royals went in for a couple more tries before Chris Lowe pushed off 4 tacklers to score a try from 20 metres out and converted by sean sudworth . 5 minutes later the Ravens were down to twelve men as Matt Jupp was to spend 10 minutes in the bin for persistence, what was encouraging was that the Ravens held out without the opposition scoring .Some unfortunate bounce of the ball from Leamington kicks were the undoing of the Ravens as the next 3 Leamington tries came from kicks that bounced unkindly for the Ravens. By this point the under strength Raven side started to run out of steam and Leamington scored another couple of tries to give them a tally of twelve tries for the game. Final score was N.E.W Ravens rugby league 12 Leamington Royals 70.

Man of the match for the Ravens was centre Sean Flynn for the amount of tackling he got through and making excellent yardage with the ball.
