Health tip
The natural products in beer combine to deliver a range of vitamins and minerals which scientists have shown can be very beneficial to your health, when beer is consumed in moderation. No wonder many refer to beer as "liquid bread".
Of course, enjoying a beer with friends also increases your feeling of wellbeing – and that must be good for your health!

As usual Marti has an extraordinarily good selection of ales on offer to enjoy over the weekend, Christmas and the New Year with the addition of Magners cider now available on draft in both bars.

On now:
Jennings Cumberland Ale (4.0%)
Crouch Vale Essex Boys Bitter (3.5%) - "This chestnut coloured ale is a riot of traditional English malt and hops. It is a classic best bitter with full, satisfying body and glorious lasting hop bitterness."
Brakspear Bitter (3.4%) - " is a red amber coloured beer with a tight white head and a delicate toffee aroma. The gently effervescent ale gives a warming sweet malty toffee flavour, a citrus bitterness and a hint of saltiness."

and in the cellar for Christmas and New Year

Black Sheep Golden Sheep (3.9%) - excellent with turkey and ham
NEW Clark's No Angel (4.0%) - excellent with ham and turkey
NEW Skinner's Christmas Fairy (3.9%) - excellent with mince pies
Caledonian Deuchars IPA (3.8%) - brewed by men, not machines
Timothy Taylors Landlord (4.3%) - one of my favorites - hope there is some left for Christmas eve
Shepherd Neame Spitfire (4.2%) - full of vitamins and minerals
Jennings Redbreast (4.5%) - a christmas cracker
NEW Wranghams Christmas Cracker (3.8%) - another christmas cracker
Wylam Gold Tankard (4.0%) - good for the Gosforth game
Wylam Angel (4.3%) - Gosforth?
Wylam Dognobbler (3.9%) - a new year session ale
Wylam Crisp and Even (3.6%) - more new year session drinking
Joblings Swinging Gibbet (4.1%) - easy drinking
Jarrow Rivet Catcher (4.0%) - a welcome new-year drink
