Unfortunately during the weekend the sad news emerged that Gordon had passed away after a recent illness. Gordon was an Old Cents man, "through and through" and could always be found during a weekend in his favourite corner of the Old Cents club. As a young boy of sixteen, I found my self playing for Longlevens in the lower sides against Gordon, something that I will always remember, as although he was a big chap he certainly was a true gentlemen especially when it came to looking after the young lads. I was lucky enough to become good friends with Gordon and some of his family in recent years and always looked forward my journeys to the Old Cents for a pint and a chat in that special corner. " Father" will be missed, but certainly not forgotten, our thoughts are with all of his family at this moment in time.
