end of season report

Congratulations and Best Wishes
Congratulations to Matson for their play-off victory away at Teignmouth on Saturday. With a 35-10 victory away from home this now sees them take the place of Coney Hill who unfortunately have suffered the disappointment of relegation in south west one west. So this leads me nicely onto the forth coming Combination Cup finals on Sunday Mat 11th where Coney Hill are once again fielding all three sides for the second successive season. Opposition for the day comes from Matson in the 1st XV Cup, Old Cyrptians 1st XV in the second team cup and Chosen Hill in the 3rd XV. Games kick off at 11am, 2pm and 5pm respectively so come along and support your teams and help to keep the spirit and tradition of the Combination Cups alive and kicking, as well as buying as programme from Gary Fowke who will be selling them on the gate. All proceeds from the programme sales will be going to local rugby not as you may well think the forthcoming wedding fund. I just thought I clear that one up!
On the subject of cups, many congratulations to some of our junior sides who were out at Hartpury last Sunday in the county cup finals. Winners of the cups were Longlevens , Spartans and Coney Hill. Well done boys this is hopefully a good omen for local rugby in years to come.
Also during the weekend Old Cents could celebrate after learning that results had gone their way and the script for the great escape is now complete as they will once again be “flying the flag” in national three south west.
Finally once again, best wishes to Longlevens who play their junior vase final this Sunday at Twickenham, 11am KO against Rugby Lions from the midlands. Having had a successful season with a creditable third place finish, although missing out on promotion by one point, I’m sure a vase victory and a very long party afterwards will more than make up for things. Best of luck boys, from all within the local rugby circuit.
Cheers Dave
