Brockworth 35 – 12 Old Colstonians

It wasn’t until the last 10 minutes that the home side finally put themselves out of sight of the determined visitors. Brockworth were out of the starting blocks very quickly and soon scored a nice try from their impressive outside half. Just inside his own half he spotted a gap which he accelerated through with pace and with the cover coming across he showed a neat dummy to go in under the posts. After this good start the “Badgers” seem to lose their rhythm and struggled to stamp their authority on the game which allowed the visitors to stay in touch and it was only in the last ten minutes when Brockworth were able to seal the game with a couple of long-distance scores to gain maximum points to keep amongst the challengers at the top end of the table. Credit to the visitors though, they did have a few strong runners in their side who did ask questions of the home side’s defence, butBrockworth will be pleased to have got back on track after their two recent defeats against Longlevens but will know that as the old saying goes “could have done better”

A winning start for Brockworth’s new Saturday temporary coaching duo of Bri Webber and Chriss Masters, could this be the making of the perfect dream team. Only results will tell! Look out David Humphreys!!!!!

Also on the plus for Brock, Luke Holden seems to enjoy his self in the unfamiliar surroundings of the back row, but he does bring the added bonus of being able to pass, which was something his father Pete avoided. I often wondered if it was the fact that he didn’t know how too, or was it really he just didn’t F…… want to!!!! I’ll leave that up to you but I would go with the latter.

This Saturday once again its family commitments, so Rugby takes a back seat but on Sat 6th Dec I will be at Spatans who welcome Ashley Down Old Boys from Bristol to Lansdown Road in A Glos Div 2 tie. As it’s nearing Christmas the likelihood is I shall be having a few beers with my old mate Gary Fowke which can mean only one thing, I need to do a few hours overtime as I’m sure it’s going to cost me!!!!!! Cheers Dave
