The 2015 season is now under a month away

.
The Winter Nets will continue until the 9th April 2015 outdoor nets will start the Tuesday afterwards. Selection like last year will be on a Tuesday night with teams posted asap on the website .

On Friday the 10th April there will be the senior signing on night from 7.00 pm at the club subs remain unchanged from last year :
Playing member £80
Playing member 18-22 in full time education £60
Social member £25

Please can all those players who have ordered kit from the chairman please can you attend the club that night to pay for that in cash membership fees will be taken by cheque.

On Saturday the 11th April there are the warm up games when the 1sts play at home and the 2nds at Shadwell.

The season proper starts the week after with the 1sts at Burley whereas the 2nds entertain Burley at home. On the Sunday the 3rd team play at Adel.

Some of you may know there is a Thursday league which will start in mid-May this will be a 20:20 competition and it is hoped that this will be filled by players in the 20-30 age group. It will give an opportunity for more cricket , those members who have working commitments and can’t play at weekends will be selected as will those borderline 2/3 team players . Further information will follow.

Below is a note Rob has written to the league in relation to the clubs prospects this year.

The 2014 season saw the opening of the new club house and clubs long awaited return to the First Division, the investment in the clubs facilities has continued through the Winter months with further development planned and we look forward to welcoming back old friends and adversaries alike in 2015.

The tremendous work done off the pitch now means the 'pressure' is on to to ensure that we retain our First Division status and whilst there is clearly a need to strengthen the club remains largely confident in those players who helped the club achieve promotion in 2015.

To supplement the current squad we have recruited three new players who we wish well for the forthcoming season:

Larry Audain

Larry has filled the overseas vacancy not taken in 2014 and will arrive from St Kitts as a batting all rounder.

Larry comes to the club highly recommended and arrives in time to play in our preseason friendly against Tofts CC from Cheshire on the 12th April. Wrap up warm Larry...!!

Andy Carson

Andy has joined the club with good cricketing background having played at a high standard in the English Premier League Gloucestershire Division.

Andy is an accomplished top order batsman and will provide solid competition to those who did so well in 2014.

Barry Singleton

Returning to NLCC is Barry Singleton who will need little introduction to most, Barry brings a known quality having being a proven performer in the First Division for many years and we look forward to him helping the club secure its status in the top flight.

The club has a talented junior section which has over the years produced a number of first team cricketers and we look forward to their involvement within the senior squad.

The club has unfortunately lost the services of Jack Burke who has decided to try his luck elsewhere and we wish him well with his new club.’

There will be much demand for places in the teams again this year. Players are encouraged to see the third team as good competitive cricket and if the second team is full on a Saturday players will, it is hoped, embrace the opportunity of playing in the third team to put pressure on the selectors and ensure the third team go one step further this year by capturing the play off crown . It is expected that the clubs strength in the bowling department ( at all levels ) will be supported by agility in the field and a strong club ethic which will make this season another memorable one at North Leeds
