Harwell & Hendred 0 - 4 North Leigh U12s
North Leigh back to winning ways in the league with 4 – 0 win over Harwell and Hendred.
North Leigh travelled away to Harwell and Hendred in the U12’s A league in a repeat of last week’s cup semi-final. Like last week, both teams battled well to get hold of the ball but gradually North Leigh’s midfield of Eliot Major, Jamie Collins, Sam Sherpa-Moore and Lewis De’ath began to make in roads.
North Leigh took the lead through a Sam Hanson corner as the ball found its way to the feet of Eliot Major who hit his shot through a tangle of legs and into the corner of the net 0 – 1 (20 mins). North Leigh continued to push forward but was unable to increase their lead and the half ended.
In the second half, North Leigh pushed on and soon scored a second, as Shay Kelly took full advantage of a half hearted back pass and Harwell keeper’s indecision, to tap the ball past the keeper into an open net 0 – 2 (35 mins). Harwell had their best period of the game putting pressure on North Leigh defence of Luke Ashby, Cameron Foster, Elliot Barton and Connor Sims who were made to work hard to keep out Harwell. Sam Sherpa-Moore now in goal pulled off a terrific one handed save before North Leigh settled down again.
Zak Oliver put a ball through for Shay Kelly who out paced Harwell’s defender before finding Sam Hanson in space whose curling shot was cleared off the line but Lewis De’ath was on hand to head into the net 0 - 3 (50 mins). Shay Kelly scored his second beating Harwell’s offside trap and latching onto a Mason Muckleburg through ball by side stepping a defender before firing past the keeper 0 – 4 (57 mins). The match finished 4 – 0 to North Leigh.
