North Leigh 2 - 1 Didcot Town
As a local derby the game was a bit odd as for most part it lacked real passion. Only in the final ten minutes following Leigh's second goal did things liven up a little for both teams. For Leigh the introduction of sub striker Conor McDonagh with twenty minutes remaining seemed to transform the whole team into a potent force, a quality sadly lacking in the previous three league games. Didcot kept pushing on and had scored a deserved equaliser midway through the second half and until the introduction of McDonagh looked the more likely team to score again and take all three points. Leigh had two of their new summer signings making their debuts for the club, Aaron Woodley in a midfield role just behind the striker and Andy Gunn at centreback alongside Andy Caton.
Both teams had started their league campaigns poorly, but like Saturday after less than a minute on the clock a Kieran Sanders cross from the right saw Morgan Williams sail over the defender and head the ball across goal and wide. After a fairly even opening 20 mins it was that man Wayne Turk again just like Saturday who picked the ball up in the Didcot half centrefield on 23 mins and seeing nothing on, tried his luck with a crisp dipping shot that took a slight deflection before beating Didcot keeper Gareth Tucker at his far post.
For Didcot Adam Morris following a corner hit a wicked shot on the volley that Sam Warrell in th leigh goal did very well to palm away. Right at the end of the half following a Leigh corner, Didcot broke quickly after a misplaced pass by a Leigh midfielder catching Leigh unawares and the home team were very fortunate to smother the ball as it reached Warrell's box.

After an early Leigh freekick taken from a dangerous position just outside the box, was tipped over by Tucker, Didcot started to turn the screw and for the next 15 mins Didcot looked to prise open the home defence. Having already introduced Sam Elkins at half time midfielder Michael McKirnan was introduced on 62 mins and within a minute had provided the equaliser squeezing it past two defenders and an unsighted Warrell from 10 yds. On 70 mins Didcot striker Pablo Heysham was unlucky as a mazy run along the bye line past a couple of defenders ended with him blasting his shot high over Warrell's bar.
With the introduction by Mgr Mark Gee of striker Conor McDonagh shortly after for Leigh the Didcot back line realised they had a battle on their hands. Within a minute he headed a ball on to give Aaron Woodly a 1 on 1 with Tucker who did well to snatch the ball from Woodley's feet. The winning goal came on 79 mins from another McDonagh run down the left into the box. He passed sideways to Elliot Osborne-Ricketts who was fouled on the edge of the box. Up stepped Stuart Hole who crashed one of his unstoppable free kicks through the wall and although Tucker got his hands to the ball couldn't prevent it thudding into the net.
The rest of the game was played out before a tense crowd but not before on 84 mins McDonagh stung Tucker's hands again with a rocket shot that was pushed wide.
