In lovely conditions at Eynsham Park North’s fine run of form continued against runaway leaders Quarry. North largely dominated the game, though in first ten minutes they allowed Quarry too much time on the ball and only a smart save from North’s keeper Sam Oliver kept them at bay. It didn’t take long, however, for North to get their confidence and neat fine flowing football soon followed, they had good chances to take the lead with Shaun Hiles heading narrowly over and Tom Weedon firing wide when well placed. Somewhat against the run of play Quarry took the lead, Sam Oliver inadvertently brought down a Quarry striker inside the box the subsequent penalty kick was expertly dispatched. North were not deterred and continued to threaten, Josh Burnham and Chardex Pavier linked up well on the left, with Will Potter winning most of the mid-field battles further good chances were created. Just before the break they deservedly got on level terms, a fierce James Turner strike was parried by the Quarry keeper only for a lurking Tom Weedon to slot home the rebound.
Although North had to reshape at the break, when Hayden Morse failed to reappear after picking up a heavy knock, they continued to dominate. It was no surprise when they took the lead, a fine James Turner free kick saw North centre back Rob Keylock ghost in at the post to confidently fire home. North were now rampant, James Turner’s rasping drive from twenty yards made it three, only several fine saves from the Quarry keeper prevented the score line increasing. On the occasions that Quarry ventured forward they were thwarted by some outstanding defending by Rob Keylock, Josh Burnham, Filton Pavier and Ciaran Pragnell, along with Sam Oliver’s solid handing they were kept at bay. The strength of North’s squad paid dividends when Kieran Strange came on and did well, after Shaun Hiles had to go off with a nasty ankle injury. Late on North made it four, a hard working Dom Belcher drilling the ball home at the near post, this completed a comprehensive victory against a fine Quarry side that has dominated the league to date.
