North Leigh 5 – 1 Wychwood

Comfortable Win Sees 18’s into Quarters

Without being at their best North eased past a spirited Wychwood side. Both sides looked a little jaded after the Christmas break, along with a heavy pitch they found it hard going.

North took the lead on around ten minutes with a finely placed header by Rob Keylock, after some good approach play. On form striker Tom Weedon capped a fine performance with a 1st half hatrick, all three being well taken left footed strikes. Will Potter added a fifth before the break.

At half time North brought on debutants Will Vandenberghe & James Minchin, both made significant impacts by adding an injection of pace and good final ball. North had plenty more opportunities to add further goals, but all went begging. Although the game was pretty much sewn up many of the North lads switched off, while Wychwood upped their game and had several good chances to get back into the game. North keeper Joe Morse had to pull off a couple of excellent saves, but Wychwood did get a deserved consultation with a great long range effort flying high into the net. North will need to stay focused for the full ninety minutes when they face a tough quarter final tie, away against Hook Norton.
