Bury St Edmund and West Norfolk triangular fixture
Sun 4 Mar 10:30 - Friendly Full time

U11s v Bury

Well done to one and all for a thoroughly enjoyable morning, where the U11s showed some of the best rugby of the season so far!

1st Game North Walsham 35 Bury St Edmonds 0
A very big well done to the boys for the best 10-12mins of rugby seen that they have played so far this season in difficult conditions. Consistently rucking well, and moving the ball through the hands well. Occasionally handling and decision making were poor and Line outs and kick offs still look a little suspect and need working on. Generally a very pleasing performance!

2nd Game North Walsham 7 Bury 21
In this game I think that Bury certainly raised there game and we made too many changes. Consequently Bury came back into the game and generally played better than we did. We must not be intimidated when some players come off the field, instead it should be used as an opportunity to prove yourself and show yourself up.

Particular things with this game were the poorer tackling and the number of mistakes that were made and generally they were more physical.

3rd Game North Walsham 14 Bury 5
A real show of spirit and character where some players stood up to be counted in a far more physical encounter. Bury certainly wanted to prove themselves and come back and win this encounter. But I was very proud of everyone who stood up to the challenge and meet fire with fire. Defence wins games but in order to have good defence you need desire and passion to win which was certainly on show. North Walsham walked away true winners. You can have all the skill in the world but without passion and desire you will not achieve. Being able to control your aggression is very important as well so although I like to see it must be controlled within the laws of the game.

A couple of thoughts in this game, make sure you don’t panic in attack and defence believe in doing the basics right, second rows must make sure there shoulders are under the props bottoms to give them adequate support.

Well done to James and Rory for there man of the match awards and Jack vP for his consistent kicking which could have proven very important in the last session.

Try scorers were; Duncan, Ryan, Max, James Cherry 2, Rory 2 & Max Lister.

Well done to one and all for thoroughly enjoyable day at the office. Please try players and parents to influence other players to join us. The more the merrier!
