1st Dec opposition & chatter.

It’s all about the numbers! Last week’s chatter involved the small margin between teams, and the abundance of available players in all Northwich teams a week later and we concede a fixture due to lack of players?

Did you know? 1st Dec 1929 Game of Bingo was invented by Edwin S Lowe.

Northwich visit the Isle of Man to face Douglas. 1978 was our first visit to the Isle of Man for a Cheshire Cup fixture v Douglas, although losing 15-12 this was the beginning of many happy NRUFC visits to the island. Team for that first fixture B James, A Clements, J Carroll, D Phillips, S Linde, J Connor, B Adams, A Ryder, S Miodonski, S Watkin, B Dawson, M Naylor, P Davies, C Naylor, P Gibb, J Rutter, P Hudson. A couple of their off-spring will be performing today for Northwich. & maybe a couple for our opposition (just saying).

Douglas, who lie second in the league table, seemed to be resting on their laurels last week as the home side Warrington, leapt into first half action establishing a 26-3 half-time lead. They managed to hang on to their unbeaten home record against an accomplished Douglas side, whose relentless pressure in the second half saw them score 19 unanswered points to provide a nail-biting finish. Little did Warrington know that they were not to score again as a determined and talented away side took charge in the second half and hardly allowed Warrington any ball. Douglas getting their just reward by scoring three tries and left the home side battered and hanging on for a very hard-earned victory.

Storm Diana is threatening to play havoc during the week we hope Saturday clears up for our travelling alackadoos, supporters & players.

Northwich losing on the island last season 36-24 in a very exciting but scrappy match played on a fine day following a week dominated by rain Connor Lapniewski making his Blacks debut.

Douglas are a good experienced side and as Postie likes to remind the faithful “There are no easy games in this league”.

Northwich 2 welcomes Didsbury Toc H 2s to Moss Farm 2.15 kick-off. Didsbury are just 2 points above Northwich but have built up a 3 game winning run defeating Crewe & Nantwich 8-0, whilst Northwich hammered another nail in bottom placed Wirral 14-55. I would like to say more but match reports are similar to the proverbial “Rocking horse $”!^” If your reading guy’s help me out please.

Northwich 3s after conceding last week due to a CLUB shortage of players, it was nice to see a couple of players still had a game albeit over the fence. Chris Chapman taking a trip to Leighton, hope he recovers soon and pulls on the Black for our next 3rd team fixture which due to being knocked out of the Cup, then a rest weekend is not played until the 15th December v Winn Park.

Northwich Colts eventually get up and running in their new league last week beating Eccles 19-28. A large number of Northwich colts have been playing senior rugby and their first two league fixtures deemed walkovers coach Richard Dale was more than happy to see his charges back competing in the colts league. Northwich travelling to Wigan this Sunday 2pm kick-off.
