Colts debuts for 3s
This was like watching Northwich 3rds at the beginning of the season with a squad of 19. The whole team played as if they wanted this game, full commitment in tackling, backing each other up. The forwards dominated the scrums pushing the Knutsford pack back on a number of occasions.
Although Knutsford scored the first try, which was not converted Northwich soon got back into the game where Ross McGrory intercepted a pass and like an eel he slid through the Knutsford defence to score a great try, which was converted by Tom Sparkes.
In the second half Ross again intercepted a Knutsford pass just outside the Northwich 22 and slid through their defence evading a number of tackles to score under the post, which was converted by Tom.
With about 12 minuets to go George Goodfollow was yellow carded and Knutsford then took full advantage of the overlap to win the game.
The difference between Northwich and Knutsford is they are a first team who obviously train together twice a week which in the end showed.
Northwich had three colts playing for them Ross McGrory, James Gorman and Tom Clark. They were very impressive and all three were given man of the match, they will have a great future playing for Northwich 1sts. Also worthy of a mention is Dan Young for his first ever game of rugby and shows great promise.
