Northwich Victoria 0-3 Chester City
After emerging victorious away to the same team in pre-seaosn, Northwich suffered a 4th home league defeat at the hands of rivals, Chester.
The first 15 minutes were encouraging for Vics, they had the majority od possession, the majority of the attempts and looked the stronger side. James Asher with 2 headed efforts narrowly missing the target and the Chester goalkeeper making a number of saves.
After Liam Gregory was forced off after what is feared to be a cruciate ligament problem, Northwich began their downward spiral for the next 70 munites. When Chester striker went down softly in the penalty area, Northwich defenders were too busy appealing to the referee for a dive instead of playing on and picking up the man at the back post who blasted into the empty goal.
5 minutes later, Ellis Hackett gave ther ball away cheaply 25 yards from Vics goal. Chester capitalised on the mistake, putting another low ball to the back post for the unmarked striker to slot home. 2-0 Chester.
Chester were now on top as Northwich struggled to keep possession or create any kind of goal scoring opportunity.
The second half was no better for Vics, they gave the ball away in silly areas and failed to win the ball back. Second half substitutes included Kieran Roberts and Tom Robinson. After giving the ball away yet again, Northwich conceded a corner midway through the second half. After failing to clear, the Chester striker was allowed to wait for the ball to drop and volley past Wilson in the Vics goal. 3-0 Chester.
Northwich never really looked like getting back into the game as it finished 0-3.
