38 from Gavin Paddock unable to stop GKN II, but Woodies not bottom...

The final game of the season saw the return of captain, Gavin Paddock, who won the toss and decided to bowl first. The GKN II's openers looked comfortable against the Northwood bowling until the introduction of Jeff Barrett's spin saw the first wicket fall, a catch from Mark Tuckwell. Runs still came at a steady pace, but Harry Collier then took two wickets in his three over spell, one bowled and one a catch from Matt McCallum. The Northwood bowlers managed to pull it back in the final few overs with some tight bowling, GKN II finishing on 113-3. Harry Collier took 2-25 and Jeff Barrett 1-22. The Northwood chase then got off to the worst start possible with openers Jeff Barrett and Harry Collier both caught for 0. The third wicket came soon after as Ashley Goldsmith was also caught, for 5. Mark Tuckwell batted well but was then run out for 16, before hopes of a Northwood victory were ended when Gavin Paddock was bowled for 38. Matt McCallum ended the innings on 6 not out as Northwood finished on 86-5, a 27 run defeat. Despite only winning one game, Northwood have managed to find themselves second from bottom, with Island Bakeries below them on run rate. Northwood's season has now finished, but Bakeries take on GKN II on Sunday, with Bakeries needing to only slightly increase their run rate to see the Woodies relegated.
