Saturday 21st May - League - Northwood II v Ventnor III
Ventnor III won the toss against the seconds and put them into bat. Chris Perfect was soon to go for 9 and he was followed by Jeff Barrett for 26 and John Zaccardi for 4. When Ben Duggan was LBW for 17, Northwood were struggling on 78-4. Harry Collier also fell shortly for an innings of 21. Captain, Mark Tuckwell and Daniel Bell then steadied the innings and moved Northwood to a respectable total. Bell was then run out for 25 with the score on 171. Tuckwell then bought his fifty up from 57 balls but was also run out on 61. Steph Boyd was 10 not out and James Ivory 3 not out, Northwood 205-7. Some outstanding bowling from the openers, John Zaccardi and Dan Parker ripped through the Ventnor top order to leave them 29-7, Zaccardi with four wickets and Parker with three. Harry Collier and Daniel Bell then took a wicket each meaning Ventnor needed 71 with just one wicket left. However, the Ventnor number three bought his hundred up and moved Ventnor towards the target. 38 runs were required from 4 overs, but Mark Tuckwell went for 21 in the 37th over. Dan Parker then bowled a tight over to leave Ventnor needing 9 from 2 overs. A Harry Collier over went for seven, meaning just two runs were needed for an unlikely victory. Steph Boyd bowled a tempting delivery, to which the Ventnor batsman edged, leaving Dan Parker to take a great catch diving forward at gully, Northwood winning an amazing match by just 1 run.
Tuesday 17th May - Cup - Northwood Under 15s v Porchfield/Bakeries
Rob Bolwell top scored with 46 not out for the Under 15s as the Woodies posted 112-5, other useful contributions coming from Josh Procter (18) and Daniel Bell (11). There were then two wickets each for Niall Casson, Daniel Bell, Ben Duggan and Alix Hamilton as Porchfield/Bakeries were bowled out for 43.
Wednesday 18th May - Friendly - Northwood v CHSOB
Dave Neal top scored for Northwood with 50 from 37 balls, Nathan Proud added 28 not out and Ashley Goldsmith 20 as Northwood posted a respectable 147-6. However, CHSOB were able to chase the target in the last over despite 1-17 from Chris Perfect and 1-18 from Daniel Bell.
Saturday 21st May - League - Whitecroft v Northwood
Whitecroft won the toss in this league game and put Northwood in. Nick Heelan soon fell for 3, but Tommy Barton hit 100 and Matt Heelan 141 to put the Woodies in a commanding position. Chris Williams scored 19, Gavin Paddock 41 not out, Dave Neal 9, Graham Gregory 23 and Simon Goldsmith 19 not out as Northwood posted 378-6 from their 40 overs. Tommy Barton then took 2-23, Andy Ball 3-39, Ashley Goldsmith 1-17, Simon Goldsmith 3-11 and Nathan Goldsmith 1-4 as Whitecroft were bowled out for just 99, Northwood with their first 20 point victory of the season.
Sunday 22nd May - Cup - Northwood Under 11s v Shanklin
Shanklin got off to a good start against the Under 11s and scored 267-6, all wickets falling in the last 6 overs, George Sprack taking 2-7 and Lewis Blackmore 1-14. James Whitewood then hit 26 not out to guide Northwood to 272-4 and a 5 run victory, George Sprack adding 5.
Sunday 22nd May - Friendly - Ventnor v Northwood
Some superb batting from the Ventnor top order punished the Northwood bowlers as they posted 307-1, the only wicket a retirement. Northwood didn’t disgrace themselves however, and scored 208-8, Gavin Paddock top scoring with 50, Dave Neal hitting 38 and Matt McCallum 26 not out.
Monday 23rd May - League - Newport v Northwood Under 15s
A stunning batting performance meant Northwood hit 176-5 from their 20 overs, Josh Procter 51 not out, Rob Bolwell 41 and Harry Collier 31 not out. In reply, Harry Collier took 3-2, and James Ivory took 2-20 as Newport were bowled out for 74.
