The Planters have discovered who they will have as opponents in next seasons Isthmian League North Division.

Following the FA's Non-League Step 1-4 club allocation being released, the three clubs relegated from the Premier Division, AFC Sudbury, Canvey Island and Grays Athletic, have all been allocated into the North Division.

In addition Ware have been given a reprieve, following Worcester City's withdrawal from the National League North which also gave Harrow Borough a reprieve after their apparent relegation from the Premier Division.

Mildenhall Town followed the Planters in being promoted into the Isthmian League North from the Thurlow Nunn League and they will be joined by Essex Senior League champions Barking and London Colney who won the Spartan South Midlands League.

The final addition is Potters Bar Town who move sideways from the Southern League Division One Central.

With Brightlingsea Regent promoted along with Thurrock into the Premier Division, and relegation for both Wroxham and Great Wakering Rovers, three further clubs have left the division. The clubs in question are Phoenix Sports, Thamesmead Town and VCD Athletic who all transfer to the Isthmian League South Division.

It has also been announced that the Southern League will run the new Step 3 division which will come into being for the 2018-19 season. The Isthmian League will run the new Step 4 division. The final decisions have yet to be made but it is understood that promotion and relegation matters will be known before the start of season.

The additional divisions are being introduced as part of the FA’s bid to cut both travelling times and the costs associated across the National League System. It will mean Step 3 runs with four divisions, while Step 4 will have seven.

In total, the 276 clubs currently playing in Steps 1 to 4 will increase by 20 to 296 when the two new divisions kick-off in August 2018. Across the board, the reshuffle will see the three current Step 3 divisions of 24 clubs increase to four divisions of 22 clubs while the six divisions at Step 4 currently run by the Northern Premier League, Southern League and Isthmian League will rise from 136 clubs playing in six divisions to seven 20 club divisions.

To achieve its aim, the FA also confirmed that only the bottom clubs in the current Step 3 divisions will be relegated at the end of season 2017-2018. In addition, only the clubs finishing last in the six divisions currently operating at Step 4 will be relegated next season with 26 clubs coming up from Step 5.
