Funding Boost for Nostell Base

The Crofton Community Centre, home to Toolstation NCEL Premier Division side Nostell Miners Welfare, has been given a major cash boost.

£30,000 has been given by WREN, a not for profit business which awards grants to community, environmental and heritage projects across the UK, from funds donated by FCC Environmental to the Landfill Communities Fund. FCC Environmental is the leading UK waste and resource management company.

It will assist the centre’s £80,000+ project to improve the playing surface on their two main pitches, with the money going towards a slit drainage system.

Peter Cox, managing director of WREN, said: “WREN makes a difference to people’s lives awarding grants to community, environmental and heritage projects across the UK. We’re delighted to support Crofton Community Centre and their valuable work.”

Spokesman from Crofton Community Centre, trustee Granville Marshall, said: “We would like to thank WREN for their wonderful donation, without which the project couldn’t have gone ahead. The last two seasons have been awful for both football and rugby with many games called off due to waterlogged pitches. Hopefully, we can now put that situation behind us and everyone can enjoy the excellent facilities.”
