Nostell 4-4 Rothwell
Nostell 2nds once again showed moments of excellence mixed in with minutes of madness in their up and down 4-4 draw against a useful Rothwell side.
Nostell got of to a dream start when Warren Redford neatly slotted home a fine through ball from Tom Booth with just 10 minutes played.Welfare then doubled their lead 10 minutes later when good work from Danny Sammon allowed Ben Beaumont to rifle home and give Nostell a 2 goal cushion.
However Rothwell hit back strongly and dozy defending from Nostell gifted the visitors 2 goals to go to half time all square.
The teams were now pretty evenly matched in the early stages of the 2nd half but a 20 yard power strike from midfielder Danny Sammon raised the welfares hopes again.
Unfortunately the scores were soon level again this time Scott Atkinson turning the ball into his own goal from close range as Nostell again allowed the visitors a lifeline.
But with 10 minutes remaining a superbly executed free kick from Dean Normington put the welfare back in front.
Surely lessons had been learned from the previous week where a late goal had denied us our 1st win.
Alas no as Rothwell snatched a point from the penalty spot in the 88th minute.
Definitely 2 points dropped and once again a "Jekyll & Hyde"performance from Nostell.
Harry Jones picked up the man of the match for an industrious midfield display and whilst it's frustratingly obvious we can hold our own in the league a mean streak needs to develop for us to start fulfilling the potential our new young team clearly has.
