Nottingham Casuals Solstice Sevens committee has some exciting news!

The annual Solstice Sevens tournament, on 18th/19th June, has been selected among eight other tournaments to host a Midlands regional qualifier as part of the first ever RFU Community Sevens Series this summer.

The launch of the series is just another significant milestone in promoting the game of 7s within the UK. In line with the objectives of the RFU’s Sevens strategy, and subsequent to the approval of the Community Game Board, it has been agreed to roll out a full domestic Sevens series which progresses from local to regional to national level in 2016, culminating in a national finals day at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry on 30th-31st of July.

(Please note the Solstice is the "Nottingham Sevens")

The winner of the Solstice Sevens Cup will qualify to play at the regional final in July.

This year the profits of the Solstice Sevens will be used to replace and improve the flood lighting on the training pitch. This will include replacing some of the current lights with more efficient lower energy versions and erecting new lights at the “dark end” to enable all of the playing surface to be utilised.

Full details of the Solstice tournament are available on the Sevens website.

As usual as many volunteers are required as possible to help through out the weekend from Friday 17th through to Sunday 19th June.

Playing events are only taking place on Saturday this year, however teams will start to arrive on Friday, and with events planned late into Saturday night, breakfast and clear up will take place on Sunday.
