Matt wanted to pass on this message:
Just thought I would let you all know that I succeeded in my walk across the Sahara Desert! A big thank you to all of you that have helped me raise money or who have pledged money to me to do the walk.
The physical trek, in itself, was not demanding but when you coupled it with all of the non-physical challenges of sleeping rough, poor personal hygiene provision, limited water, sore feet, sore back, big temperature changes, dry atmosphere, the expected chaffing (!) etc. it did become very difficult. The walk took me ten days and I arrived back in the UK at midnight last night – one stone lighter! Although I am sure I have put most of the weight back on today as I have been absolutely ravenous and have not been able to stop eating.
As most of you should know by now I walked across the Sahara Desert to raise money for a local hospice in the Midlands called Beaumond House. I have first-hand experience of the hospice as a very close friend of mine passed away in his early 40’s and the Hospice helped his young family and wife through their grieving afterwards.
My initial target was to raise £10,000 and I have currently managed to raise about £8,000. It would be great if I could get as close to my target as possible so those of you who were waiting to see if I survived the adventure can now dig deep and sponsor me at my just giving page at

I will put some more information and photos together over the next couple of weeks so that you can all see some detail of the challenge that I completed.
Great effort - well done
