Great Scenes as England, including 4 girls with strong Novos connections snatched a dramatic worl cup win.

England Women have been crowned world champions after beating Canada 21-9 in the final of the Women’s Rugby World Cup at the Stade Jean-Bouin in Paris.

Tries from Danielle Waterman and Emily Scarratt gave England their first tournament win since 1994, while Scarratt also added 11 points with the boot.

Among the Squad were ex Novos ladies Tamara Taylor who gave a world class display in the 2nd row - her time at Novos during her student days before she moved to DMP to play premiership rugby.

Captain Katy McLean also left us to move to DMP after a few seasons after joinnig from Westoe.

We are proud to be associated with both of course... But reserve extra pride fot 2 who really are one of our own. Sarah Hunter, Number 8 and vice captain learned her trade at Novos and counts Graeme Cooper as one of her early mentors - She now plys her trade at Lichfield but often returns home and her debut England shirt is proudly framed in the bar.

And finally, Janette Shaw, our current ladies centre and ex England international - wasnt on the field but is an integral part of the setup as Team Manager - Always away with the girls, planning and working on England and combining that with being our club secretary and still being a star performer in our ladies squad.

The club was packed on Sunday afternoon to watch the girls triumph,

World Champions at Novos.... Who would have thought it! We all congratulate them on their tremendous efforts and incredible achievement in winning the highest accolade in the sport
