At the Volunteer award presentation night earlier this week the County President Alan Heinzman made a number of additional personally selected Presidents Awards. The Club of the Year trophy was awarded to Novocastrians RFC for the following reasons:

Novos are a very successful and inclusive community rugby club. Novos Ladies have been particularly successful this year becoming RFUW North 2 Champions and gaining promotion to the second tier of English rugby - Well Done. Novos also have a range of senior men's teams in different leagues providing rugby opportunities for a range of interests and abilities. Their mini and youth section provides excellent opportunities for boys and girls to develop their rugby skills and love of the game. Novos is also home to Newcastle Ravens, Newcastle's first gay rugby club, that recently hosted the Hadrian Cup for gay clubs from all over the country. The Northumberland Referees Society also holds all of their training meetings at the club. Novos provides a wide range of social activities for all ages and are well supported in the community.

A truly lovely award to win and evidence of Novos growing reputation as a really good social club who will accept all who want to play the game

    Fantastic News!

It just goes to show it's not about winning at all costs - nice to be appreciated and recognised for what the club is - a genuine Community Rugby club.
