Hello again,
Just to remind you the Eds' last game of the season is this coming Saturday 16th April, 1pm start, 2pm commemoration for Jez Simpson and two games kick-off @ 3pm.
Once again a big thank-you to Mass and Clive for sponsoring the day, honestly it's packed from start to finish (as late as you like... see below):
You are all invited to attend and why not bring the family:
- There's a free pre-match lunch of steah pie, mash and veg @ 1pm for 1.30pm
- Graham Nuttall and Tom Simpson are unveiling a bench in Jez's Simpson's memory at 2pm
- 1st XV have an intriguing match against Bedworth, always a pleasure!
- Celebrate Martin Perry's and Jez Hastings' umpteenth games for the Eds. We've done a recount and Martin has played around 920 games and Jez 650 which is amazing; Martin's playing career at the Eds spans over 37 years and Jez's 25 years. The 2s have picked their toughest challenge; a very tasty game against a powerful Broadstreet team.
- A chance to win two autumn internation tickets at Twickenham for England Vs South Africa
- A live band after the games, no charge
- There may be several players in fancy dress
- And if you're in the mood there's another band on from around 8.30 for a club member's birthday bash which you are all invited to
As you know it is customary for us to to raise a glass before lunch to the memories we share of friends gone but not forgotten: Scratch, Keith and Tony Betney, Chuck, Cadders, Simmo, Vaughn, Dick Moreton, Stuart Pratt, Tut, Terry Savage, Julie Hoey and recently Jenny Betney Keith's wife.
I can guarantee it will be a great afternoon and I am really looking forward to seeing you.
Best regards
Ged O'Neill
