Nuneaton Borough 1-3 Brackley Town

2 months ago By Adam Etheridge

Nuneaton Borough fell to a fifth straight defeat as their former Manager Kevin Wilkin came back to haunt the Boro’.

Brackley Town won 3-1 in an entertaining encounter with goals from Jimmy Armson, Lee Ndlovu and Liam Fairlamb, whist Kairo Mitchell replied for the home side.

Ndlovu had the first chance as he beat Danny Burns in a foot race, cutting inside the centre-half and forcing Cam Belford in to a fantastic save on his home debut. Brackley forced a succession of corners and Belford had to be alert to make another sharp save from a Gaz Dean knock down.

With 15 minutes on the clock, Ndlovu was threatening again, springing the offside trap, but side-footing wide. Boro’s first shot came almost immediately afterwards, Courtney Richards seizing a loose ball on the edge of the Brackley box and firing a rasping low drive narrowly wide of the left-hand post.

Armson’s 19th minute strike had a touch of fortune to it as the ball across deflected off a Boro’ defender but still found the former Nuneaton midfielder in the middle, where he was able to tuck the ball in at the far post.

Boro’ opened the second half with a decent spell of pressure but another left wing cross from Luke Fairlamb found Ndlovu unmarked in the middle for an easy header and a 2-0 lead for the visitors. The powerful forward almost added his second shortly afterwards but shot wide when faced with an open goal.

Mitchell, who was introduced by Eaden ten minutes earlier, pulled the Boro’ back in to the match with an expertly placed flicked header that crept inside the post for his first of the season. Fairlamb, not satisfied with assisting two goals, scored the third as he weaved in and out of Boro’ defenders before shooting across goal in to the bottom right corner with ten minutes left to play.

Eaden’s side fought to the end but couldn’t pull another one back. The game ended with a double sending off, Harry Panayiotou for Boro’ and Shep Murombedzi for the visitors after having a tousle in the corner.
