Nuneaton Borough is pleased to announce Harry Panayiotou has joined the club after leaving National League club Barrow at the end of last season. “I worked with Nicky at Leicester with the Under 23s for a couple of Seasons so it's good to be around someone that I already trust and I understand their methods” commented Panayiotou, “The vision for the club is impressive and I want to be a part of that. It’s also a great opportunity to come back home and be around my family. They haven't been able to watch me play whilst I was up in the North West so it will be nice to perform in front of them at Liberty Way.”
The Saint Kitts and Nevis international joins Boro' after helping the Bluebirds avoid relegation, a challenge he accepted over the opportunity to join Borussia Dortmund Under 23s. “I’d won quite a lot at youth level and achieved everything I’d wanted to, so I decided it was time to prove myself at senior level. I feel that I’d done well in my limited opportunities at Leicester and it was very frustrating when I was released.” Nigel Pearson gave the former Leicester City striker his professional debut in the last game of the 2011-12 season, Panayiotou staked his claim with a goal in the 2-1 win over Leeds United at Elland Road.
In 15 appearances with his national team, Panayiotou has scored seven goals, since making his debut in 2014 against Barbados, and is looking forward to the international challenge as well this season ”The CONCACAF Nations League qualifying starts in September and is a tough prospect but I’m looking forward to it and hoping to qualify for next year's Gold Cup in the United States.”
Panayiotou is the club’s sixth signing of a busy summer, which has seen them add Devon-Kelly Evans, Miles Addison, Owain Jones, Curtis Obeng and Ash Carter to the 2018/19 squad.
