Another month goes by and the Nutters embark on one of THE most important phases of work... read on for TC Weston's monthly round up.

Over three weekends through December, a hardy thicket of Nutters cleared and levelled the ground, hand dug three tons of soil through the root protection area and cpmpleted the concrete base for the new machinery shed.

What became apparent very early on, was that the biggest challenge would be to transfer materials on and off the site due to the ground being so wet. Unfortunately, an over-zealous delivery driver rutted the outfield on the first weekend. Not the start we were looking for. To this end, somewhere in the region of 20 tons of materials was wheel-barrowed 50 metres up the hill. The Club would like to apologise for the damage, but acted promptly to put things right.

Siberian Gulag: On the 2nd weekend, between 11am and 2pm the wind was howling along. 40+ mph gusts. Carrying on regardless, there was one lucky escape when a large branch fell from the protected Ash Tree, narrowly missing the mixer gang, working below. Despite these challenges, the work was carried out with great gusto with a good few laughs on the way. Photographic evidence available on the Nuthurst Cricket Club website.

Weekend 1 (early October)

Weekend 2 (mid October)
Weekend 3 (early December)
Weekend 4(early-ish December)
Weekend 5 (mid December)

Highlights: 1. Ben Hewson slipped and placed a full arm up into a barrow load of wet concrete... much to the amusement of us all. 2. Graham Prior slipped into the full splits, pinned by his barrow load of concrete. Bob Weston endied a day of concrete mixing looking like he was rushing off to the court of Louis XV at Versailles. He was later diagnosed with a bad case of Mixermatosis.

Final thanks too for our ever present and wonderful Social Secretary, Eileen le Rossignol. Tea, coffee and a sweet smile or two, kept us all going. Also, to Liz Tidy, who appeared early on in proceedings, sporting a piping hot apple strudel. What a marvellous delivery that was. What more could possibly ask for?

Annual General Meeting: The AGM will be held at The White Horse, Maplehurst on Wednesday 11th January 2018 at 8p.m.

Happy New Year Everybody.
