POACHERS EASE PAST BARROW

POACHERS EASE PAST BARROW image

Dominant Oadby make no mistake this time

Oadby put on a dominant display to ease past Barrow 2-0.

Right from the off the Poachers were on the front foot and had Barrow pegged back in their own half. A free kick saw Dan Wilson skip though and scuff his shot when having the only the keeper to beat. Joe Lathams header from another set piece was adjudged offside when planting home. Matt Piper failed to convert when probably it was easier to score, as he headed firmly into the ground from 6 yards out and saw the ball bounce hard in the ground and go over the bar. Moments later Pipers teasing cross found Jermaine Gordon at the far post and his shot was cleared off the line. Barrow did create a couple of chances towards the end of the half as Nobles crosses were flicked over by defender Declan Towers over his own bar and Adams latched onto another but was glanced over.

Half-Time 0-0.

Wtihin minutes Oadby made 2 changes bringing on Duffy and recent signing Dodd from Coalville. The visitors soon got on the front foot, as Barrow stuggled to live with the pace of Reeves. His cross was met on 55 minutes by Piper who jinked past his defender to cut inside and unleash a shot into the bottom corner. Oadby continued to press, and were again rewarded as Reeves raced past the defence and rounding Riley in the Barrow goal to slot home for his second on 70. Reeves found himself again clear, this time Riley saved well. In the 80th minute Riley brought down Reeves, only for Stevenson to send his resulting penalty wide. Barrow tried to press for the final minutes, but were unable to create any clear cut chances.

Full time 0-2
