The two decades prior to the Panthers being founded, Oxford Brookes University ran a successful team in partnership with Oxford University who were called the Oxford Cavaliers.

Due to new rules introduced, this partnership could no longer go ahead which is when OBU made an offshoot team called the OBU Panthers in 2010.

Since then the Panthers have had their own success, being the best rank defence in the country during the 11/12 season and making it to the play offs.

Building on from this the Panthers now have a solid program with a good set of coaches and players, including some strong vets as well as some promising rookies from our recent 2015 intake. Coming off a strong Varsity win against rivals Reading Knights at the end of the season, 2016/17 promises to be even better.
