Celebrities.
I shall also be working with The Irish Cancer Society and Cancer Action Mhaigh-Eo to do a smaller version of it in Mayo to promote the tournament.
It not only has a link to the Irish Post Article from the 04/02/12 at the bottom of this post but as well as that it has words of support from Gemma Wilson Cancer Research UK’s area volunteer manager for North London and Justin McDermott Irish Cancer Society’s Community Fundraiser for Ulster/Connaught.
Gemma Wilson Cancer Research UK’s area volunteer manager for North London said: “We can’t thank Eamonn and everybody involved in organising this tournament enough for their continued support and dedication.
Cancer Research UK has made enormous progress in the fight against cancer. However, we have only been able to do this thanks to the dedication and commitment of our volunteers and supporters without whom we would not be able to fund outstanding scientists, doctors and nurses.”
Justin McDermott Irish Cancer Society’s Community Fundraiser for UlsterConnaught said: "As the community fundraiser for the Irish Cancer Society in Ulster Connaught I support and assist individuals and communities across the West and Northwest of Ireland who want to join in the fight against Cancer. It's an honour for me to meet so many wonderful cancer survivors and their families, people from every walk of life and section of society who have been so affected by this terrible disease.
The support that survivors, their families, friends and communities give the Irish Cancer Society enables us to fund vital cancer research as well as to provide our services and supports to cancer patients and their families while also raising cancer awareness and health promotion.
Most recent statistics have shown that over 30,000 people will be diagnosed in Ireland this year and that approximately one in three people will get cancer in their lifetime. It is vital that we all continue to work together to ensure lesser people get cancer and those that do have better outcomes.
The rugby tournament that Eamonn and the guys at Ballyhaunis RFC are organising is truly unique and really exciting and we are delighted to be one of the benefiting charities. We are really looking forward to it as will everyone in Ballyhaunis and county Mayo. I know that all of the participating teams and their supporters will receive a very hearty ‘Cead Mile Failte’.
