Old Brods u7s played a hastily re-arranged one off match for the Ken Habergham Trophy against Morley u7s
as the Morley festival had to be cancelled last Thursday due to a waterlogged pitch . but the Brods pitch
quite surprisingly was ok , and it was decided to move the game to Woodhead .
Morley began with the ball , but spilled it to enable the hosts to pick up the loose ball and a pass to George
Bannister enabled him to finish nicely in the corner . Morley re-started and scored almost immediately , the Brods
through WILLIAM BENTLEY
scored a try after a superb solo effort . Morley hit back again with a try .
From the re-start EDWARD LEACOCK
burst through the Morley defence and scored a fantastic try in the corner .
The Brods defended well but Morley managed to squeeze in for a try , after some Morley handling errors the
Brods scored 2 quick fire well taken tries with SAMUEL THACKERAY
and Bannister crossing .
In the 2nd half Morley burst through to cut the arrears , only for Thackeray to extend the Brods lead with
some sublime support play . Morley after four tags scored again , Brods re-started and a loose pass which
went behind the player enabled Leacock to pick up and charge down the touchline . Unfortunately he was
tagged just a few metres short , Morley expected the supporting Bannister to take the ball to the right , but
a jink and a step to the left and he was able to score in the left corner .
Morley hit back again , then the Brods after a few passes found Bannister who took on the visitors and spotted
a gap and sped through for a good try . Morley scored again but the wet , cold conditions played a part as the
teams found it difficult to grab those tags .
Bannister scored again for the Brods after good support play , on the last play of the game Morley moved the ball
around and did eventually manage to score a consolation try . The Brods had won a good game by 9-8 and
won the Ken Habergham Trophy .
A big well done to todays team , and to the rest of the squad who have played this season . And have improved
and also have learnt so much in their Rugby Development . Stuart and Jeff look forward to coaching you all next
