Another away win for the U9s
Close match, but well drilled defence and supportive attack win the day
Morley was the venue for Old Brodleians under 9s second match of 2013, and this was to be a close one. Brods started well and mounted a number of good attacks, but Morley were equal to it and managed to repulse the continued pressure. It was close to half time before a great backs move started by Jamie Scott at scrum half was passed along the line for winger Matthew Briggs to score in the corner. But back came Morley and took the score level at the break.
Slowly in the second half, Brods well drilled defensive line and impact attack started to show and Briggs soon got over for his second. Some better rucking and some notable steals in the breakdown from Simeon Archibold and Rory Neal, who had another fantastic game as loose head prop, saw the forwards build a great platform for Louis Inman, playing at inside centre, to power over for his first of the day, and Brods third. New boy John Baker made a fantastic break, running nearly the length of the pitch before being caught by a desperate Morley tackle, but setting up Brods in a position where man of the match Harry Gray powered over to make sure of the win 1 - 4 away win.
