BARNES FORCED TO RETIRE

It is with a heavy heart that we must announce the retirement from rugby of Club Captain Tom Barnes.

MRI scans have revealed excessive wear and tear on both hip joints and Barnes has been compelled to call it a day, less than a year after joining the club and being elected Captain.

Barnes was instrumental in the second half of the 2013-14 season, kicking the First XV to the Gloucester 2 title and Junior Combination Cup glory at Kingsholm.

‘’I'm totally gutted to be told to stop playing. I was looking forward to helping keep us in this league and another successful season’’

Despite this devastating blow, Barnsey is looking forward to fulfilling his non-playing role as Club Captain and wishes Chad Crosby all the best with leading the team on the field.
