Sevenoaks are a class act and we always knew this would be a tough one; and it also proved to be a welcome learning experience.

Our opponents scored in the third minute, not the first time OEs have been caught out in the early stages. But the next 20 minutes were evenly contested; two great teams in a hard fought contest. OEs had a couple of good opportunities which they failed to convert, and Sevenoaks scored again in the 23rd minute, and then again immediately before half time. All were well worked tries although it was disappointing for OEs to be down by 21 points; we need to avoid conceding both in the early stages and immediately before or after the half time whistle.

Half time - OEs 0 ; Sevenoaks 21.

More fiercely contested rugby by both teams in the second half, and once again Sevenoaks were first to make a breakthrough. OEs came back hard and breached their line following several phases and a determined effort by Josh Squires to finish it off. Converted by Chris.

The last try was for Sevenoaks.

Full time - OEs 7 ; Sevenoaks 35.

After the final whistle a further 30 minutes was played to involve all players - both teams had about 28 players overall and the plan had been to give everyone a good run out. Once again, Sevenoaks had the better of us although we did score a great try through the speedy Lennox.

What next? Simple... we applaud Sevenoaks, lick our wounds and come back stronger. Continual improvement as ever.
