The club are delighted to announce two more important additions to the coaching staff ahead of the start of pre-season training on Monday, July 4th.

Barny Allen has been appointed Head of Strength and Conditioning while Del Coates becomes Extra Firsts backs coach.
Coates, a former Kent fly-half and full-back, will be well known to

Elthamians supporters, having played and coached at Westcombe Park, Blackheath and Aylesford, while Allen arrives at College Meadow with an impressive CV having been Head of Strength and Conditioning with Premiership side Gloucester and rugby league outfit London Broncos.

Director of Rugby Gavin Lach said: “We are delighted to welcome Barny and Del to the coaching set-up. Both bring a wealth of experience and expertise which we can only benefit hugely from as we step up preparations for what will be another hugely demanding league campaign for the club.

“I’m delighted to have them both on board and it’s another part of the jigsaw completed as we look to build on - and improve upon - last season.”

With former Esher captain Ian Kench joining the coaching team, Lach has also made other changes to his backroom staff with the appointment of Ally Vanner, who retired as first team captain at the end of last season, as first team manager.

“Ally is going to take on an expanded role in his capacity as 1st XV manager with a much more hands on approach with the players and the team,” said Lach.

“We also hope to be able to announce an Extra 1st XV Manager in the next week or so that will be a massive help to the coaching staff on matchdays.”
